When leading plastic surgeon Dr. William P. Adams Jr. wanted a way to extend the reach of his patient consultations, the VECTRA 3D user looked no further than to Canfield Scientific’s ViewMyConsult, the company’s web-based portal that provides patients with secure remote access to consultation images and simulations.
One of the original users of 3D technology, Dr. Adams was instrumental in developing and improving Canfield’s VECTRA 3D. “In the past five years, there has been a significant improvement in the technology. We produce 3D simulations that are 98% accurate to our post-surgery results. During the development and refinement we worked with Canfield engineers to refine VECTRA technology and we have been using it ever since.”
So when the company launched ViewMyConsult four years ago, Dr. Adams was an early adopter. Now, patients of his Dallas plastic surgery practice use the secure access option to view their 3D images and simulations – anytime, anywhere, while making confident decisions about their prospective surgeries.
The portal also allows Dr. Adams and his staff the flexibility to connect more frequently with patients. “It gives us a good indication of their level of interest and lets us know when we should circle back with them,” added Dr. Adams.
Advanced imaging technology, accurate 3D simulations and the private client portal all contribute to patient comfort and education. “My patients are very visual. They want to be able to see what you are going to do before you do it,” said Dr. Adams. “ViewMyConsult allows us to reinforce the office visit by sharing the simulations we discussed, and it allows my patients to discuss their consultation with the people who are important to them.”

Dr. Adams is an international authority on breast and body contouring surgery, and has developed new surgical techniques geared around patient safety and rapid recovery. He graduated with honors from Princeton University before attending Vanderbilt University Medical School where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and was awarded the prestigious “Best Graduating Clinician” distinction. He completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residencies at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Adams is an Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and is the Program Director for the UTSW Aesthetic Fellowship. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is an ASAPS Executive Committee and ASAPS Program Chair, and has been actively involved in professional education for 25 years. He publishes and lectures regularly as well. In 2009 he founded and currently serves as President and Chief Medical Officer for The Plastic Surgery Channel, a multi-media company that allows practices to leverage the power of doctor delivered high quality video programming to connect with their community and patients.
