Offering free 3D consults with Canfield Scientific’s VECTRA XT to her cosmetic patients has helped to bring new patients into Dr. Patricia McGuire’s practice and provided additional benefits to both the practice and the patients.  These benefits include, “higher patient conversions, happier patients and avoiding operating on patients with unrealistic operations. A Canfield customer since 2014, Dr. McGuire has been using the VECTRA XT to educate and advise her patients. Using a patient's own 3D image, Dr. McGuire sits with patients to view the potential outcomes of aesthetic surgical procedures and make a shared decision on the best type and size of implant to use. 

“The VECTRA XT is one of the best additions to my cosmetic breast practice,” said Dr. McGuire. “It enables me to educate my patients on their anatomy, display their symmetry or asymmetry in 3D, and provide them with a realistic idea of what they can achieve. Better than just sharing before and after photos of other patients who kind of look like them, VECTRA XT enables me to show the patient what they themselves can look like.”

The result? Patients are happier with the decision making process and Dr. McGuire can better connect with them as they discuss their anatomy. “Using the 3D image and automatic computer-measured dimensions, I show my patient the reasons as to why an implant may or may not be the best choice for her anatomy.”

Added McGuire, “The two things that concern patients considering cosmetic breast surgery are ‘is it safe?’ and ‘what am I going to look like?’ I can review the safety data with the patient, and then, through the simulation, show her the potential results.”

Dr. McGuire uses the VECTRA XT for all of her cosmetic augmentation consults, for mastopexy and mastopexy augmentation patients when the mastopexy does not require a reduction, educating her patients on both their bodies and the possibilities offered through surgery.

“I meet with all of my cosmetic patients in the room with the VECTRA,” said Dr. McGuire. “I talk with them about their goals and describe their options. After the examination and VECTRA analysis, I can review the before images with the patient and do the simulation.”

The process also saves Dr. McGuire time and avoids patient frustration. “I was surprised. Using VECTRA reduces the time for my consultations. Rather than having to explain to a patient repeatedly about the limitations of her anatomy and what I can realistically achieve, I can show her the actual possibilities in 3D.”
